A smoothie, also known as smoothy or smoothee, is a chilled beverage made from fresh fruit and vegetables using a powerful electric blender  with blunt blades.

Sometimes smoothies include added sugar and crushed ice.

The drink dates back to the 1960s in the USA. It became popular and widely available in ice cream parlours and health food stores.

Nowadays it is on the menu in main stream cafés. Even bottled or carton versions can be bought at supermarkets all over the world.

blender (also liquidizer): a small electric appliance used in the kitchen for cutting vegetables, fruit, etc.
blunt: not sharp. 
parlour (AmE parlor): a shop for selling a particular food or service.

The Battle of Mohács, the town in southern Hungary situated near the border with Croatia, took place on Wednesday, August 29, 1526.

It was fought between the forces of the Kingdom of Hungary and the invading Ottoman Empire, also known as the Turkish Empire.  

The Ottomans achieved a decisive victory and expanded into the southern Kingdom of Hungary.

They frequently made looting incursions, including stealing people, into Upper Hungary for more than 150 years until 1683 when they were defeated in the Battle of Vienna.

 STOP WAR IN UKRAINE 

During the Second World War, the Slovak National Uprising against Nazi Germany took place in the regional capital of Banska Bystrica in August 1944.

Eleven years later, the Slovak National Uprising Museum, situated just outside the city centre, was opened.*

The museum features open-air displays of numerous weapons which were used in the war, such as cannons, tanks and armored vehicles.

There is also a Li-2, a former bomber and transport aircraft, on exhibit during the summer season.

*A new permanent exposition named “Slovakia in the antifascist resistance movement in Europe in the years 1939-1945” was opened on 27 August 2004.
